Second Valley for Families

Second Valley is a beautiful, bountiful source of family fun, Summer or Winter. This summer what a great day trip on a warm day. Only 91 Kms South of the GPO, it will take about and hour and a half to get there from the city.
If you want to stay on, here is plenty of accommodation though the sheltered
Second Valley Caravan Park is often booked out well in advance for the holiday time. I often though make a day trip, especially on a day when it is over 35 in Adelaide. Second Valley will be a few degrees cooler, but still warm enough for a Swim.
For swimmers, especially with young children, the beach is small, accessible and easy to keep watch on the kids, as they paddle in the shallow sandy bay. It's a perfect place to relax. The car park has clean toilets and changing room facilities.
For those wanting to take older kids on a snorkelling adventure, this is a perfect location with an ideally placed Jetty facilitating a view of inshore sea creatures. There are often graceful stingrays lumbering across the sandy bed in slightly deeper waters.
For fishing adventures, the locals say Squid jigs are the most productive fishing fun, though may other species are available off the Jetty, and again it's a great place to experiment with the kids and teach them how to fish.
There are plenty of easy trails for photographers, walkers and rock scramblers as well.
To get there, you travel south on the Southern Expressway, head to Yankallila and then on past Lady Bay and Wirrina resorts. For alternative and inexpensive accommodation I suggest the nearby
Wirrina Resort or
Caravan Park .
