I think its fairly safe to say there is not a person alive who can look at a puppy or a kitten and not melt. These cute and cuddly creatures truly bring something special to each of the lives they touch. I mean, where would be without our pets?

Sadly, each year an estimated 500,000 animals are abandoned or surrendered to shelters all across the country. It's a staggering and shocking statistic. Fortunately there are a number of shelters and rescue centres working tirelessly to help these poor animals in need.

Second Chance Animal Rescue is one such organisation and does some amazing work with caring for and re-homing abandoned animals.

Located in Northcote, the organisation currently focuses on foster care and rehousing cats and dogs most at risk of not having a loving home to call their own.

As with most organisations of the like, these guys really need funds to continue the amazing work they're doing. As they are volunteer based, they depend on the generosity of the community and success of fundraising efforts to stay afloat.

The great news is, its not all doom and gloom as you can help and score some new clothes at the same time. Second Chance Animal Rescue have teamed up with Take 2 Markets in an exciting new fundraising venture.
For those unaware, Take 2 Markets are Victoria's very own roving recycled fashion market. Held in town halls all over the state, they are the perfect place to nab a vintage designer bargain!

This time around, they're setting up in Northcote Town Hall on the 24th of March. Head on in, check out the amazing array of fashions and accessories and make sure you stop by the SCAR stall and buy up big!

Nothing in the stall will be over $15, and they will have a treasure trove of bargain boxes, with contents beginning at $2. If ever you needed an excuse to buy some pretty vintage clothes or baubles, this would be it.

Entry to the market costs $3, and runs from 10am-3pm on Sunday March 24th. Northcote Town Hall is located on 189 High St Northcote. If travelling by public transport you can either take the 86 Tram or the train to Merri or Northcote station.
If you wish to find out more about the great work Second Chance Animal Rescue does or if you're looking for a new addition to your home you can give them a call or check them out online. Its good to know that all dogs and cats from their shelters are desexed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and temperament tested. This ensures you'll be able to find the perfect little buddy for you and your household. If this sounds good visit www.secondchanceanimalrescue.com.au for more info.
