The wife took a deal that was offered on the Sydney Weekender show, I reckon. It was for a night's stay at the Sebel Harbourside Hotel, Kiama for $189 which included stay in a room with balcony bottle of wine, pizza for dinner, a free pay movie, box of maltesers and a full brekky buffet the next morning - sounds nice? Let's see. We got there in under 2 hours and were delighted to know that our room was ready by 12:30pm even though check-in was only at 2pm.

The receptionist was very welcoming and sweet. After putting our bags in the room, we roved around a bit. The rooms were a decent size and spacious and well planned.

The hotel was not too far from Black Beach and Black Beach Reserve.

There was Hindmarsh Park nearby, where we strolled around and saw some dogs exercising alongside their owners. That was a fun sight and made interesting pictures.

We strolled around Terralong Street which seemed to have markets and cafes and had coffee and meringue whilst we watched some kids play.

Look who's making coffee for us

At dusk, we walked back to our hotel to unwind. We ordered an all meat pizza and tried choosing a movie. The batteries were dead so we had to call for assistance. With the batteries changed, we settled down with red wine and pizza. The pizza could've been crispier but it was yum and the wine was intoxicating.

Calorie Time

Time To Get Light!!

Next morning we set out for some angular light pictures. We went to Cathedral Rocks which is 3kms away and the place has to be seen to be believed. It reminded us a bit of Scotland. A nice place to practice meditation, read a book or just laze around.

It was cold so we rushed off to Blowhole Point, which we had to see as it was only 650m from our hotel. We were lucky to get a gush of water rushing through the hole. The place itself, Kiama, is so tranquil and nice.

By this time we were famished, so we drove back to hog the buffet. The buffet spread was nice on its own, but compared to the one at Sebel in Windsor, where we stayed a few months back ,it was nothing to write home about. Their bakery/pastry items disappointed the most as they did look good, but didn't taste so fresh. But I guess their sausages and made to order eggs made up for that.

In Windsor, the Sebel gave us free, made to order omelettes which were scrumptious, but here they had a $15 charge which we felt was a let down. But all in all the buffet was not too bad. The biggest let down was the dust in the room and babies crying at night in the corridor. The TV and the lamp shades had dust which triggered off an allergic sneezing attack for me.

A Cleaned Up Room??

That was shocking - otherwise the staff were friendly and I would recommend a stay here - do keep anti-histamines handy though!

Nevertheless we had a good time.
