The biggest seaside feast you will find on the Peninsula is when the food trucks roll into Frankston on Wednesday 11th October. A menu like no other, food trucks offer a dining experience you have to try to fully understand. Once you do, you will want to go back for more. Unfortunately, these tasty little dinner vans aren't staying long. They will leave Frankston on Sunday 15th October, so don't over-stock your pantry or go fishing for you dinner. Let someone else do the cooking and be part of this wonderful culinary community event.
I've written several articles for The Food Truck Parks permanently located in Coburg and Preston, and often wished I lived closer simply so I could sample some of their wares. Usually accompanied by a festival theme, craft beer, live musical entertainment and a market, dining at Food Truck Park is so much more than dinner – it's an experience, in a relaxed, communal environment where the whole family is welcome to simply come, sit and stay for as long as they like. Thankfully, these tasty little restaurants roll, and roll they do, becoming much-appreciated staples at various events, markets and festivals around Melbourne as the food truck trend gains momentum.
Part of the food truck fun is that you never know what you're going to get. When several food trucks come together in a dinner line, there is literally something to suit every taste and every appetite, or tempt you to try something completely out-of-the-box new. Bye-bye fussy eaters, this experience is just as good as a restaurant as you can sample a little bit of this and a little bit of that, choosing from several different 'kitchens,' as each experience is guaranteed to be totally unique.
Lucky for me – and you – a little piece of Food Truck Park is coming to Frankston and they are bringing the party with them. While the food is certainly the main event, part of the fun is the outdoor dining arrangement. Settle yourself beneath the setting sun with a craft beer or wine, enjoy the strains of the live musical entertainment and enjoy dining in a fun, festive environment.
In conjunction with the Frankston City Council, the call has been put out for market stallholders. As this is a return event for Frankston, hopefully the night will be even bigger and better this year. From fashion to homewares, craft, beauty, records and more, it's treasure hunting and night shopping fun for all.
The Seaside Street Food Festival will be on the Frankston Pier Foreshore from Wednesday 11th October to Sunday 15th October 2017 with trucks opening their windows to hungry customers from 5pm to 10pm each night. The pier foreshore is located on Pier Promenade, off Nepean Highway, Frankston. There is limited onsite parking and surrounding street parking on Nepean Highway and in the Frankston CBD.
