Seahorse sensation anyone?
If you want to get up close and personal with a seahorse, look no further than Seahorse World at Beauty Point. A short, scenic 50 minute drive from Launceston will see you pulling up to a rather underwhelming shed on a wharf, however, should you persevere, you will be rewarded with exclusive access and tour of one of the few seahorse farms in the world.

One of the few types of seahorses you'll see

Paying very reasonable rates will allow you access to a guided 45 minute tour of the facilities, as well as complete gift shop access for all seahorse related extras if you want to take you. The tour itself is well worth the price of admission, and to some, the business is doing themselves a disservice of charging so low.

The tour gives everyone a very in depth view of the life and breeding of seahorses, from an initial idea of the different breeds available, to the different stages of breeding.

Breeding Tank

There's a touch tank for children and adults alike, where you're allowed to hold a seahorse above the water, and feel the animal breathe, its fins flapping, and its rough scaly exoskeleton.

Seahorse World is a must see. If you're a tourist driving across Tasmania, make a detour. If you're a local, get yourself there and see what your state has to offer. Whether you are 3 or 103, everyone will enjoy a trip to Seahorse World.
