Books close to the sea
Suburban Adelaide, is full of great libraries and Seaford library is no exception. With the ocean close by and a great book selection, it makes for a dreamy combination of waves, words and endless hours spent in their pleasant company.

Seaford Library is located on Grand Boulevard. Close to local shops, schools and churches, it is a great spot for the community to come together, borrow books and other reading materials, volunteer, catch up with a friend or experiment a new activity or hobby.

The library is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Thursdays 9am to 8pm and Saturdays 9am to 12 noon. These hours have been put in place in order to benefit the entire community, working residents, students, families and seniors, so people of all ages are welcome at whatever time suits best.

The space is really open, full of natural light and fresh air. This is often taken for granted but it makes a difference when you are looking at book shelves for long periods of time, studying or sitting in front of a screen.

If you are searching for a quiet space to do some work or studying, I recommend you avoid this spot at school pick up time, as next door's school kids enjoy hanging out here while they wait, which can get slightly noisy and distracting.

Parents of young kids will find this place a blessing. It has a large children's section, a great variety of books and play areas for your little one to develop their love for reading.

The magazine section is slightly limited, however you will find some rare titles which aren't available in other libraries. Their music and movie collections make up for it though; you can find, old westerns, documentaries, world music, television series and more.

Seaford Library operates a volunteering program, so if you wish to donate some of your time, skills and interests, give them a call on (08) 8384 0044 or visit the City of Onkaparinga website, to view current vacancies and to apply.

What really is best about Seaford Library is its proximity to the ocean. Moana beach is a short drive away, so you can enjoy a little read by the ocean. If calm waters are more your style, Onkaparinga River is also nearby, so either way, you can read by the water.
