Taste the seafood at the Seabreeze Hotel
On a recent trip to Tumby Bay, my partner and I stopped by the Seabreeze Hotel for a bite to eat. Tumby Bay is a rather small town so there aren't that many places to go to have a meal. Besides the pub and the takeaway shop, only the Seabreeze Hotel was open so we decided to go for it.
I'm pretty pleased that we chose to go to the Seabreeze Hotel instead of the local pub. This hotel is probably one of the biggest and better accommodations you can find at Tumby Bay. We passed the bar area where people were playing pool and watching sports and crossed over to the main dining area. The Seabreeze Hotel also does al fresco dining where you can have your meal overlooking Tumby Bay's ocean view. However, it was far too cold and windy that we chose to sit inside.
There's a salad and soup bar at the side of the main dining hall but for the rest of the meals you have to order from the bar. A friendly waitress sat us down and we glanced through the menu. As we were in a seaside town, it would be silly to not order seafood and miss out on the fresh ocean catch. We couldn't decide what sort of seafood we wanted so we decided to go with the seafood platter.
The seafood platter for two was massive. There were swordfish steak, Venus Bay king prawns, oysters killpatrick, salt and pepper calamari, crumbed crab claws, a generous serving of chips and lemon wedges and tartare sauce on the side. Everything tasted so fresh; you could almost taste the sea from biting into one of the tasty morsels of seafood. Our favourites were definitely crumbed crab claws, the prawns, the calamari and the oysters. I wasn't particularly fond of the swordfish steak but maybe that's only because it was overshadowed by the other delicious seafood. You can get the platter for $47.
If you ever come to Tumby Bay, the Seabreeze Hotel should definitely be visited. The friendly and accommodating staff make you feel so welcomed and warm and the delicious, fresh seafood makes you want to keep coming back.
