We went to see San Francisco's famous sea lions today. They are located on Beach Street, at the back left side of Pier 39.

A few years ago, they all mysteriously left the pier. The good news is that they're back now.

The sea lions are fun to watch. It's entertaining the way they play, bark at each other, and flop over the top of each other trying to get to a favorite spot.

[ADVERT]Don't forget to bring quarters for the telescopes, if you want a closer look at the sea lions, Alcatraz Island, or the Golden Gate Bridge.

After seeing the sea lions, we walked back through Pier 39. It's delightful at Christmas.

There are all sorts of interesting shops along the wooden decks of the pier.

Some are restaurants. There's a range, zany to classy.

The tantilizing smell of baking waffle cones fills the air by this shop. It's from the Dreyer's Ice Cream place closeby.

The whole experience was really a blast. If you go to see the sea lions, bring a warm coat and gloves. We wished we had. If you forget, there are some great options available for purchase.

Most say 'I love San Francisco.'
