One of my favourite beachside locations in Victoria is Inverloch, and easily my favourite place to stay is Sea-Esta, a cosy, very comfy, yet stylish two-bedroom house a short stroll from everything.

And by everything, I mean everything:The super-stunning beach (think swimming, fishing, all sorts of water sports, rock pools, incredible sand dunes, and anything from crashing surf from gently lapping waves. Screw Creek Nature Walk with its boardwalks, mangroves and breathtaking views across Anderson Inlet.Walks and bike trails along a pristine coastline. Pack a picnic, sizzle a push-button barbecue, or just catch stunning sunsets. And a thriving, friendly town with all amenities, including supermarket, shops and boutiques, cafes including The Local Inverloch, restaurants and, importantly, a great gelati bar, Gelato al Mare.

Venture a little further, just a few kilometres toward Cape Paterson, and you're in for a prehistoric adventure where secret coves and winding staircases invite you to explore The Caves, a site where thousands of dinosaur fossils and footprints have been found, and Dinosaur Dreaming, where, at low tide, you can walk in their very old footsteps.

Meander further up the Bunarong Coast and, ah, what to say... except that it's easily one of the underestimated coastlines of Australia.


I venture out here both summer and winter, and anywhere in between, the idea that beaches are for summer also completely mistaken. I find nothing more invigorating and uplifting than the sea, nature's landscapes and beautiful birdlife at any time of year.

As for the house, it's perfect - not too big or small, every detail and comfort thought through - a super-comfy Queen size bed, and a trundle set-up in the second bedroom so the house sleeps up to 5.

An inviting, sun-filled lounge with corner lounge overlooks a lovely lazy deck with outdoor dining area, and the kitchen's both pretty and practical, with owners Michele and Dom providing little extra touches.
A chic foyer on entry includes a sitting room, while the bathroom, with laundry facilities, has a huge modern shower. There's also plenty of space outdoors for the kids to run around.I just love this place; it's the perfect getaway. And it seems many agree.
