Sculptures by the sea
Sculptures by the Sea returns for yet another great show over two main locations around Australia. If you are around these areas make sure to check out this years display, as there are a number of great contemporary art sculptures not to miss.

The locations are Cottesloe Beach in Western Australia and Bondi Beach in New South Wales.

Cottesloe Beach is one of the most famous beaches in Perth, specially when summer hits in. If you head down to Cottesloe for this unique outdoor exhibition, you can also hang around the area for a snack, food or ice cream and just enjoy the beach on a nice summer day.

Bondi Beach must be the most famous one in the whole country, with over a millions people visiting the place every year. But not all of them get to experience it with all these amazing sculptures placed around the area. The Bondi display is much bigger than the Cottesloe one, and extends from Bondi through to Tamarama.

Each location has different art pieces exposed against the different sceneries of each location, evoking a different feeling, inspiring ideas in people, creating conversation and maybe a few jokes here and there. The concept is to place them all over the beach to generate some thinking. They are placed all over the beach, in the most random places, so look out or you'll miss out on some good ones.

Bondi to Tamarama: 24 October - 10 November 2013
Cottesloe Beach, WA: 7 - 24 March 2014

If you get to see both places for this season, that's even better. There are so many different sculptures to see and appreciate. Who knows, you might even buy one of them.

There is an indoor exhibition and some of the sculptures, both outdoor and indoor, are for sale. The sculptures are there all day, so you can come at any time you want, as long as the sun is still up.

The comment Bondi must be the most famous one in the whole country, Is true. Only because that's the state where most travellers head.Taken on it's own merit, it pales into insignificance against ours in the West.Especially if you stay for our beautiful sunsets. :)

I am a Sydney Sider and can tell you that Bondi is far from nicest beach we have. I would much rather Cronulla. Lots of surfing, safe pools for the children, sand rock and a park to go with it. To my mind Bondi is much too commercialised.

Totally agree that Bondi is not the best beach in Sydney and certainly not Australia. I also am a Sydneysider but we head north - North Curl Curl, Avalon, Whale & any in between.

Yes, I love WA beaches but a bit far for me to travel just for a day!

Can't wait . . . always best at sunset when the crowds have dissipated.

In response to other comments, why are we so competitive about our beaches? We're so lucky in Australia, to have so many beautiful ones, what does it matter which is 'the best'? It's not as though they've been created by people and can be improved upon, anyway. Besides, preferring one beach over another is very much a preference based on personal tastes and experiences . . .
