Working Title for Forum - "thread count"
"My role as the assembler/ sculptor is to act as the conduit, to bring these disparate elements ( bone and leather, timber and thread) and create new, evolving forms. As this forum will offer the chance for my practice, influences, methods and materials to be discussed, I am looking forward to being an absolute open book, bones and all."
Carolyn V Watson is a multi-discipline practitioner who's practice is anchored by a sincere respect for materials and an entrenched work ethic. She doesn't believe in taking short cuts.
Carolyn makes art that resonates using textiles with hand stitched thread, bought and given bones. She draws methodically, overlapping, erasing and wiping back. She uses decay and the discarded to construct new forms from the broken.
