A spectacular panorama of tables piled high with all manner of goods greets you on entering this massive auditorium for
Scroungers Massive Winter Garage Sale, on
Sunday,
July 29,
2018, from
9:30am to
12:30pm, for
three hours of unbridled foraging.
The abundant space (packed with treasures) within this
massive auditorium (wheelchair and pusher friendly), an
undercover veranda (sausage sizzle and gourmet coffee) and
large grassed area, set the scene for a serious scrounge. Add a snack from the cafe, plus
free parking and
toilets and you have a scroungers wonderland.
Scroungers Garage Sales occur
only three times a year, resulting in a
massive assembly of goods encompassing all categories. It is a good idea to regularly check their
Facebook page for the latest updates.
Upcycle and help reduce waste
Grab a pack (at a bargain price) of these unique recycled cotton towels, rescued from being sent to landfill after a single use drying a surgeon's hands (after sterilisation). These high-quality cotton towels are highly absorbent and the 'word' on the street is that they work really well for cleaning stainless steel.
In line with the plastic bag ban ParaQuad's Supported Employees are hard at work sewing bags (400mm long by 350mm wide, excluding handles) made from upcycled hospital surgery towels for $2.00 per bag. As a contingency, there will be some brown paper bags available for purchase, also at $2.00 per bag. However, Scroungers ask you to
bring your own bags and
shopping trolleys as there is a limited supply of these bags available.
The smart scrounger leaves no table unturned
What better way to spend a winter's morning, than a good scrounge in the hope of finding that elusive treasure. With
just three hours to source a bargain, you need to be 'smart' (no distractions from the mobile phone). Secondhand and NEW clothes, shoes, handbags and coats in various styles and sizes, children's toys, office furniture and everything in between, are there for the finding.
It is unlikely that you will find a larger collection of good quality furniture, kitchenware, bric-a-brac white elephant, board games, collectables, camping gear, sporting goods, DVDs, books, white goods, household items and toys, all priced to sell, with thousands of bargains to choose from. The goods on display all being donations received either through ParaQuad's network of
charity bins situated throughout the Perth Metropolitan area or through their on-site donation point.
Coffee, snacks, drinks and sausage sizzle
Just
inside the auditorium entrance, the
Cafe caters for all your coffee, snacks, pies, cakes and soft drink needs. In addition, treat yourself to a
comforting hot drink from the
gourmet coffee machine, kindly donated by Nino Sapienza from
Direct Coffee Supplies, situated
outside right next to the
sausage sizzle.
Volunteers available to help you
Around 65 volunteers are available to help you during the sale with all money raised going to the registered charity,
Spine & Limb Foundation of which
ParaQuad Industries is a division. ParaQuad Industries is an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) their mission is to provide employment and vocational educational opportunities to about 150 people with a broad range of disabilities, both physical and intellectual.
Volunteers are always welcome to help set up or run the Scroungers sale. Please call (08) 9381 0195 if you would like to help.
