As autumn leaves abundantly cover the ground, so more bargains abound at Scroungers Autumn Garage Sale than you scoop up in three hours. Sunday, March 18, 2018 from 9:30am to 12:30pm, is your chance to clean up and save on all manner of goods.

Ample space inside the massive auditorium (wheel chair and pusher friendly), an undercover veranda (sausage sizzle and gourmet coffee) and large grassed area, create a relaxed environment for an easy browse. Add a snack from the cafe, plus free parking and toilets and you are on a winner before you start.

A fun and profitable time awaits, as Scroungers Garage Sales occur only three times a year, resulting in a massive, varied selection of goods, encompassing all categories. Regularly check their Facebook page for the latest updates.

Take a breath

Despite attending Scroungers Garage Sales several times, I am still amazed upon entering the massive auditorium, at so many rows of countless tables, covered in goods. Where will I start, will I rush in, or stop and take a deep breath? Experience suggests walking up and down the aisles to get the 'lay of the land' (grabbing any bargains along the way), then hastening toward the items of my interest and scrounging at my leisure. It is well worth the restraint, to find what you want and yet still see everything in three hours. If your style is to rush in and free-range scrounge, then have fun and go for it.

Leave no table unturned

What better way to spend a morning, than a good scrounge in the hope of finding something, anything. The fun is in the hunt. With just three hours to source a bargain, you need to be 'on your game' (no distractions from the mobile phone). Secondhand and NEW clothes, shoes, handbags and coats in various styles and sizes, children's toys, office furniture and everything in between, are there for the finding. No need for captions below, I am sure you will get the idea.

It is doubtful you will find a greater range of good quality furniture, kitchenware, bric-a-brac white elephant, board games, collectables, camping gear, sporting goods, DVDs, books, white goods, household items and toys, all priced to sell, with thousands of bargains to choose from. The goods on display are donations received either through ParaQuad's network of charity bins situated throughout the Perth Metropolitan area or through their on-site donation point.

Coffee, snacks, sausage sizzle

Just inside the auditorium entrance, the Cafe caters for all your coffee, snacks, pies, cakes and soft drink needs. In addition, treat yourself to a comforting hot drink from the gourmet coffee machine, kindly donated by Nino Sapienza from Direct Coffee Supplies, situated outside right next to the sausage sizzle.

Plenty of volunteers to help you

Around 65 volunteers are available to help you during the sale with all money raised going to the registered charity, Spine & Limb Foundation of which ParaQuad Industries is a division. ParaQuad Industries is an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) whose mission is to provide employment and vocational educational opportunities to about 150 people with a broad range of disabilities, both physical and intellectual. Volunteers are welcome to help set up or run the Scroungers sale. Please call (08) 9381 0195 if you would like to help.

And that is not all

Book Bazaar (8:30am to 3:30pm) and Opportunity Knocks (8:00am to 4:00pm) are open Monday to Friday for your convenience when you have more time to browse.

As an added bonus, Book Bazaar (just across the lawn) opens especially for the Scroungers Autumn Garage Sale, with a large selection of quality used books and LP records. This vast bookshop is well worth checking out, and returning another day for a longer browse.

Opportunity Knocks retro and pre-loved clothing store is open with an extensive selection of good quality furniture (maybe an antique or two), white goods, household items, toys and bric-a-brac at bargain prices.

Free parking and public toilets

Clear your boot and take advantage of the convenient FREE PARKING and public toilets; with only three hours to load your bargains, every moment counts.

Follow the banners

Large banners well positioned on Selby Street a week before the event, ensuring even the Google map-reliant driver will make the correct turnoff.

When arriving at 10 Selby Street, turn off into a little (privately owned, by Spine & Limb Foundation) road called Ellis Griffiths Avenue. The ParaQuad building is about 300m along Ellis Griffiths Avenue. This will be easy enough to find for a good scrounger, then follow the signs for hassle free parking.
