I'm a screamager. I'm parenting teens, ageing daily and spend too much time screaming at my kids to put down their devices and get off their computers. I love my screenagers to the moon and back but their preoccupation with mobile devices is driving me to lunacy.

I'm not the only one. Many of you are watching your kids and their friends scroll through life, with their rapid-fire thumbs and a short attention span. Is it something we need to worry about or is it just the way of the future?

Physician and filmmaker Delaney Ruston has observed her own kids and learned that the average kid spends 6.5 hours a day looking at screens of one type or another. Like many of us, she wondered about the impact of all this time on children's developing brains and how it might be affecting their ability to learn.

The film Screenagers is the result of her work and it's something that all parents must see. It's not a film intended to scaremonger or condemn the evils of technology. It's a film that will encourage open discussion about the pros and cons of modern technology and how we can live with it, not for it.

It's a personal film for the filmmaker as she delves into the vulnerable corners of family life, including her own, to explore social media, video games, academics and internet addiction. Through poignant, and unexpectedly funny stories, along with insights from authors, psychologists, and brain scientists, Screenagers reveals how tech time impacts kids' development and offers solutions on how adults can empower kids to best navigate the digital world and find balance.

In addition to parents, this is a film that will also engage the kids. Teachers, students, paediatricians, health specialists, educators, policy makers, digital professionals, marketers, social media specialists, researchers, government agencies, journalists and anyone who uses a digital device should also see this film.

More information about Screenagers and a link to purchase tickets can be found here .

All money raised from the screening will be donated to Streetwork - a youth organisation established to help teens troubled by destructive influences and behaviour to turn their lives around through mentoring.
