Scorpion Tattoo and Piercing has been fully established in North Lakes for four years after moving (the very short distance) from coastal Redcliffe. Scorpion Tattoo is made up of four fully qualified tattoo artists: Nicki, Thomas, Marc and Joe, and their newest addition, the apprentice Doug.
Nicki, the owner of the store, has been a tattooist for approximately 10 years while Joe exceeds her with 15 years on the job and Tom and Marc have been at it for four and two years respectively. Dougie, the newest member, has been the store's apprentice for the last couple of weeks and is already creating amazing work.
Now, I'm quite the fan-girl for tattoos, so when I heard that Doug needed some fleshy canvas for practice work I put up my hand, both hands, persisted in finding small simple designs, and went in to get a new tattoo.
Doug was great. To be honest it didn't seem that he was just starting at all and I was very impressed with his work. He seemed more advanced in his apprenticeship. We picked out colours together and he was very knowledgeable as to what colours would come out brighter on my skin as well as what colours would set others off in the piece. He wasn't slow in his work and I left very happy with the overall experience.
Scorpion Tattoo and Piercing: my tattoo, compliments of Doug
Before Doug had started my piece, I'd taken the time to sit down and go through the other four artists portfolios. Yes, Scorpion Tattoo have done some amazing work over the years and looking at tattoos done by each of them, it is safe to say that they're all very talented in what they do and can tackle any particular tattoo style.
So if you're itching for some new ink, or you're just curious about the place itself, pop in to Scorpion Tattoo and Piercing in the Evergreen Centre in North Lakes, shoot over to their Facebook and website, or give them a call on (07) 3482 4629.
