It's full steam ahead at the 57th annual Scoresby Steamfest!

Presented by the Melbourne Steam Traction Engine Club, Scoresby Steamfest returns to the National Steam Centre for a three-day celebration this Labour Day long weekend - 8th, 9th and 10th March 2025.

A must-see event for the whole family, Scoresby Steamfest proudly showcases a diverse range of historic and vintage steam, gas, petrol and diesel engine machines in a fun, engaging and interactive outdoor environment.

From 10 am each day, the National Steam Centre's exhibits will be fired up and operating!

Come and discover how agriculture and industry powered their machines over the last 150 years!

2025 HIGHLIGHTS

2025 is the centenary of the Caterpillar company and to celebrate the visiting Antique Caterpillar Machinery Owners Club will be putting on a big display in the back paddock. Every Traxcavator model will be on display and various Caterpillars will be demonstrated.

Don't miss the public unveiling of the first Australian Army Tank ever built. John Belfield of Melbourne Tank Museum fame rescued the cut down remains from a Gippsland farm in the 1970s. Come along and see it displayed on John Belfield's WW2 tank transporter and hear the incredible story of its survival and restoration amongst the military vehicle display by the lake.

There will also be several steam traction engines, steam rollers and steam trucks parading around the site and the opportunity to inspect the engines close up and chat with their drivers!

Near the Caterpillar display will be an extensive collection of vintage earthmoving machinery in action. Our members will be putting on a great display in the back paddock with diggers, graders, draglines, bulldozers and a dump truck. Kids will love seeing all those classic sandpit toys in full-size playing in the dirt!

The centre of the site will be bustling with antique farm engines baling hay, sawing wood, crushing stone and pumping water. More steam will be in action in the arena with traction engines and steam trucks puttering around.

There will be a demonstration of Bigfoot the Walking Dragline, as well as a chance to walk through and view it from the inside. Military vehicles and vintage cars round out the outdoor activities.

The museum sheds will house some of the most impressive displays. The club's collection of over 40 industrial and marine steam engines will be turning under steam power. The big diesel-powered generators are another drawcard. There are also remarkable collections of model engines and engineering.

In the blacksmith shop, the steam hammer will be thumping away demonstrating old-time skills. Woodworking, hand tools, and other reminders of days gone by will be presented by hobbyists, all eager to share their enthusiasm.

Plus adding to the festive atmosphere is a great local line-up of live music all day!

The little ones don't miss out either with miniature train and tractor rides, face painting and a model railway layout, where they can operate controllers to stop and start the trains!

The National Steam Centre is a large open outdoor area where much of the activity will take place. The permanently mounted engine displays are in open-fronted, well-ventilated sheds.

All are welcome to enjoy from 8th to 10th March 2025. It is a great day out for machinery enthusiasts and young families alike.
