The Residents Gallery at Montsalvat is currently hosting a brand new exhibition by local artist, Mardi Sommerfeld.

Entitled 'Scope', this stunning photography exhibition uses exquisite macro images of butterflies to explore the nature of fragility, beauty and mortality.

Mardi explains "this body of work began with my discovery of butterflies and moths lying in corners of our house in the heat of Summer. They were delicate and intriguing. I wanted to record them in detail, to explore their fragile beauty".

This free exhibition features a collection of close-up images, which reveal the wings, patterns, fur and scales of moths and butterflies. "It was a process of investigation and experimentation engaging with my ongoing interest in fragility, beauty and mortality" notes Mardi.

All are welcome to visit this collection of work, which is open daily from 9am to 5pm until 8 September, 2014.
