The perfect ingredient mix to creating lasting community connections

From Beerwah to Cooroy, from the hinterland to the coast, the ever-popular Sconetime remains the perfect ingredient mix for creating lasting community connections. Local communities are putting their hands up to support local Sunshine Coast Foodie, Martin Duncan, to ensure that these sought-after community morning teas become as legendary as the unique heritage venues where they are held.
Sunshine Coast Foodie first got the idea of Sconetime from a video that popped up on his Facebook feed, relating to loneliness and disconnect, experienced by the community's treasured seniors.

Martin,
aka Sunshine Coast Foodie, has always believed that people can relate to scones and loves using his scones to connect people, whether it be to host monthly catch-ups between traders or, in this instance, create opportunities for the young-at-heart to socialise, through a Sconetime event.
The very first Sconetime was launched in 2018 in the revitalised Cooroy Memorial Hall, before extending the tradition to Montville Village Hall and Bankfoot House in the Glass House Mountains. Caloundra, Buderim and Beerwah have also now been added to this impressive venue list. As well as putting life back into our historical old buildings, Sconetime ensures that our senior young-at-hearts feel more connected to their communities, at a regular fun social outing.

All local businesses are invited to contribute financially to help subsidise the cost of a Sconetime get-together in their community. Alternatively, donation of time is a fabulous option to get involved - either with volunteering or table hosting - or perhaps simply by paying it forward for a guest (and carer) to attend one of these social outings, as a one-off attendance. With the continued involvement of local companies, these social events will generate a positive social outcome in the community and enough income to continue covering the running costs, thereby ensuring Sconetime's ongoing success.
