From '

After watching an interview with a 96 year old UK resident, who, with no family remaining, decided to involve herself with a local charity that hosted tea parties for seniors, Martin Duncan, renowned
Sunshine Coast Foodie , realised that isolation with the elderly is a worldwide issue. Add to that, the many heritage community halls on the Sunshine Coast, that in their heyday used to come alive on Saturday nights for dances, special events and weddings and
voilĂ , the dawning of an innovative union - creating social experiences for the
'young-at-heart', in unique historical locations.
Scone Time initially started in 2018 in the Cooroy Memorial Hall and today is an established, successful event with strong, regular attendance. Scone Time has subsequently moved onto Montville Village Hall, Bankfoot House in the Glass House Mountains, Caloundra and Nambour Tram Terminus, ensuring that all local residents can participate in a fun monthly social outing and a good ol' chinwag. Besides breathing life into historical 'old' buildings, Scone Time helps the '
never-too-old' to feel more connected to their community.
And now we are being blessed with another new location for Scone Time, to be held in Buderim at the historical War Memorial Hall. With
Buderim Ginger ,
The Ginger Factory ,
Rotary Club of Buderim ,
4556 Chamber of Commerce ,
Montville Coffee ,
Cedar Creek Farm Bushfoods and the
Free Ranging Chef contributing to rocking out the scones and jam, Scone Time in Buderim is going to be kicking off to a fabulous start of decadently divine fresh scones, jam and lashings of delectable whipped cream.
Local companies are invited to contribute financially to help subsidise the cost of a Scone Time monthly gathering in their local area. Alternatively, local businesses can donate time (volunteering or table hosting) or simply pay it forward for a guest (and carer) to attend one of these social get-togethers, as a one-off attendance. By involving local companies, it is hoped that these events will generate a positive social outcome in the community and enough income to cover the running costs, to ensure ongoing success.
General Admission: for the
Buderim Scone Time , includes morning tea of scones (Buderim ginger/ ginger factory scones and Sunshine Coast Foodie's Scones made by Sandy of Feeka-Espresso) with tea or freshly brewed Noosa black coffee | $8;
Sponsorship $25 or $50: an opportunity to contribute to the ongoing subsidisation of providing morning tea at a reasonable price. Contributions will be acknowledged.
