Forget cute fluffy bunnies and adorable doggies – the next Scitech After Dark event will celebrate all those funky-looking and often forgotten animals who are, well, a bit awkward.

Scitech After Dark will take place at Scitech on Friday, 30th June from 6pm. It's a night out with a difference, as nature's strangest creatures come out at Perth's favourite science hotspot.

The theme is Awkward Animals – whether it's a naked mole rat, a dumbo octopus or one of those monkeys with the bare, pink butt, this is your opportunity to dress as your favourite strange looking creature and have a bit of fun while meeting other strange looking creatures.

Discover some of the world's most bizarre plants and creatures, along with the extreme environments they have adapted to, and learn about natural and artificial selection in the animal world.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore the latest Scitech exhibitions, including the latest – Whodunit? Can you solve the mystery of who shot the security guard and stole a prized white rhino from the Zoo? Have a few drinks as you figure out this mystery using finger-printing, autopsies and DNA evidence.

This popular adults-only event is always a hit for science fans who just need an excuse to run amok among the exhibitions. This is your opportunity to enjoy all that Scitech has to offer while dressed as a weird-looking animal. Sounds like anything but an awkward night out.
