Fantastic food, pleasant staff and an overall delicious dining experience; what more is there to say.
I stopped by the cafe last week with family and friends for what was meant to be a quick coffee and smoke (Scintilla provides outdoor smoke-friendly seating in the sun) and was, as usual, enticed by the menu.
After two hours, one giant platter of toasted Turkish bread with a selection of some very interestingly zingy dips, a chicken parmigiana served in such abundance it fed three of us (very satisfyingly I might add), one scrumptious chicken mango salad and two mouthwatering New York knock-out burgers - that were so big we were clicking our jaws back into place afterwards!
The side dish of wedges and dip was pretty much a meal itself - also cooked to such perfection, I was still stuffing my face with them when I probably shouldn't have. (If you're eating here, avoid wearing skinny jeans).
After accepting my new muffin top, my friend and I joined forces to conquer a mini cheesecake - again too perfect and too much. We dragged our party away from the addictive menu and outside for drinks and nicotine in the cafes sunny and serene outdoor area to chat (and recover) over ice cold cokes, luscious lattes, milkshakes, cappuccinos and babyccinos - and yes, after paying our under $50 bill, we all had to lie down when we got home.
When it comes down to the absolutely perfect cafe and restaurant experience Scintilla Cafe checks all the right boxes: Reasonably priced (maybe even too much so). A choice of in or outdoor eating.
A relaxed yet sophisticated 'brunchy' feel. Well but not harshly lit interior. Amazing Modern Australian cuisine, and easy going, attentive staff.
I've been back many times since and my dining party from that day can't wait to tackle the mammoth sized menu and hit the wine bar next time.
All in all, I'd say Scintilla Cafe is like the opposite of a box of chocolates - you always know what you're going to get and my God it's good!
