Are you tired of running around in circles entertaining the kids during the holidays? Let science take care of an afternoon.
2015 is the International Year of Light and to celebrate Australian Synchrotron is hosting a free school holiday event on Monday, 30 March 2015.The Australian Synchrotron will be open to the public from 2pm to 4pm and entry is free. The Australian Synchrotron accelerates electrons (around a circle the size of the MCG, at nearly the speed of light) to create a light beam, one million times brighter than the sun.The light gives researchers 'x-ray vision' of matter – from our food, to famous paintings and even the flu virus - to reveal secrets for rapidly advancing medicine and industry, and improving our understanding of Australia's culture and history.During the afternoon, the public will be invited to explore the facility by participating in specialist behind-the-scenes tours and fun engaging talks. Please note bookings are required to attend this event; click here to proceed with a booking.
