For the first time in living memory, the Perth Royal Show has been cancelled, but fear not, there is a COVID-and-little-kid-friendly alternative: the . Running in two separate locations, the festival consists of a funfair at Elizabeth Quay, a lifesized dinosaur park in Yagan Square and a sideshow Alley also in Yagan Square.

Keep in mind this is primarily an event for primary school-aged children and younger.

The event runs for all of the school holidays - from Saturday 26th September to Sunday 11th October, with limited-entry sessions lasting 1 hour. What this means, if that you get 1 hour of unlimited rides or dinosaur mayhem with a limited number of other people, and then the entire area is deep-cleaned between sessions.

Prices for the FunFair and Dino-Land are $10 per person per session which is quite reasonable for a full hour of unlimited rides/entertainment. BUT this includes adults who need a ticket due to COVID restrictions, but who can't actually go on half of the rides at the funfair (some of the rides have an upper age limit of 10 years). Children under 2 are free.

There is a small booking fee if you buy tickets online, but it's a lot cheaper than turning up on the day and buying tickets at the Box Office ($15).

You need to pre-book a specific day and time, so keep this in mind if you want to visit the Funfair and the dino-land in the same day. It is a short trip on the free Blue CAT or a 15-minute walk with little legs between Elizabeth Quay and Yagan Square. You are asked to arrive 15 minutes before your session starts, so don't double-book yourself.

Games at sideshow alley are $6 each, 6 games for $30 or 10 games for $48 (plus a small booking fee).

For example, 4 tickets to the funfair and 20 games at sideshow alley would cost you $136 plus a few dollars in booking fees.

4 tickets to the funfair, 4 tickets to dinoland and 6 games at sideshow alley would be $110 (plus bf).

You can also buy showbags and various foods (popcorn and fairy floss).

Sideshow Alley includes clowns, shooting gallery, lucky numbers and ring toss.

The Funfair includes merry-go-round, cups & saucer, bouncy castle, taxi jets, rollercoaster, fiesta balloon, the dream swinger and storm. Adults can go on storm, the dream swinger, fiesta balloon and rollercoaster.

Dino-Land includes lifesized dinosaurs, giant insects and bugs, a maze, fossil dig, bouncy castle and dinosaur puzzles and activities.

Tickets are on sale now at https://www.schoolsoutfest.com.au/ and are limited for each session. There are 6 sessions per day between 9am and 5.30pm and the event is WA owned and run.
