New Freewheeling Exhibit

These school holidays kids aged 10 – 15 years can enjoy the added experience of the Test Lab at Scienceworks. The Test Lab is included in the cost of entry to the museum, but participants must sign-up upon arrival to secure their place.

The Test Lab is part of the 'holiday' opening celebrations for Sciencework's brand new exhibit, Freewheeling. Explore the wonder and magnificence of the humble wheel. This live 20-minute show, Re-Inventing the Wheel will feature at 12noon and 2pm daily and is included in the cost of entry. Widen your view of the wheel and its application in everyday life.

In conjunction with the Freewheeling exhibit, kids aged 10 to 15 years can get hands-on through a series of workshops during the September school holidays.

From Saturday 17th to Thursday 22nd September kids can embark on the Whirligigs activity by building their own wind-powered machine complete with moving scene. They will be given all the parts and pieces they'll need, but from there the budding engineer can utilise them, building whatever they like. Whirligigs workshops will run from 11am – 12.15pm, 1pm – 2.15pm and 2.30pm – 3.45pm.

The Thingamajig Design Challenge will feature from Friday 23rd September to Tuesday 27th September. Kids will be given the opportunity to build a device using everyday materials and a few clues to complete a challenge. The Thingamajig workshops will run from 11am – 11.45am, 12noon - 12.45pm, 1.30pm – 2.15pm and 2.30pm – 3.15pm.

At the Homemade Arcade kids can actually design and build their very own pinball machine. This workshop will be running from Wednesday 28th September to Sunday 2nd October with sessions at 11am – 12noon, 1pm – 2pm and 2.30pm – 3.30pm.

Entry prices are $14 for adults, with children and concession FREE. The Planetarium and Lightning Room are an additional cost.
