Give the kids an awesome school holidays by taking them to these eight boredom busting school holiday programs.
1. Sydney Olympic Park,
Kids in the Park runs for the duration of the school holidays and has over 70 activities with 17 free options! The program will run daily at the Park and provides sporty, creative and adventure based activities for kids.
There are options for kids from ages 2 to 12, and all interests and budgets are catered for. Activities range from
free to $295.00, with many activities under $25.00
2. The Coal Loader is a hands-on eco learning centre (located at 2 Balls Head Road, Waverton). They have some great school holiday sessions including
Bush Walk for Kids ,
Spider Show, and
Mini Beast Muster .
Events are generally
free and aimed at children of all ages. Check out their events

3. NIDA (the National Institute of Dramatic Art) runs
Open Tutor sessions with a huge range of drama, acting, writing, music and play related activities for all ages. Activities will run daily for the entire duration of the holidays (19 September to 5 October) at various locations across Sydney. There are options for 2 to 18 year olds with prices ranging from $25.00 to $350.00.
4. Ku-ring-gai Wildflower Garden runs the
Bush Kids school holiday program. The program features simple, outdoor, hands-on activities for kids who love the bush. There are activities from 23 September to 2 October onsite at the Garden (420 Mona Vale Rd, St Ives). All kids are welcome with activities for 0 to 12 year olds.
Prices range from $12.00 to $55.00 (and adults are required to pay for some sessions).
5. Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney has a couple of
school holiday activities from 28 September to 4 October. These include Digital Mini-monsters and Madame Mulch and The Great Fertilizo magical performance.
Prices ranges from $10.00 to $35.00 (and adults are required to pay for some sessions). Sessions are suitable for 5 to 12 year olds.
There are also lots of other
activities that take place in the Royal Botanic Garden that may have some interest for the little ones.
6. The Sydney Opera House runs a fabulous kids program called
Kids At The House . There are so many activities and performances for kids from 2 to 15 to get involved in.
Some events are free, with shows around $30.00 (parents are required to buy a ticket).
Be sure to check out the
free Creative Play program which provides an active and creative outlet for children, where they become the artists. Kids will love to enjoy the LEGO Creative Play sessions which will run every day of the holidays in the Western Foyers.

7. NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service runs a kids program called
Wilderquest . During the school holidays kids are invited to and join in a ranger-guided tour to discover hidden mysteries of national parks. There are heaps of different tours spread across all the parks.
Kids can discover our wonderful coastline on a sea creatures treasure hunt, become a waterbug detective, or join an Aboriginal ranger on a bush tucker workshop.

8. Cumberland State Forest runs magical
school holiday activities inclding Forest Fairies and Elves, Timberific Toys, Amazing Animals and Timber Magnets.
Sessions are aimed at 2 to 10 year olds and are very reasonably priced - generally around $5.00.
