In tune with the chilly days and nights of the season, the July school holidays are a perfect time to take the kids ice-skating in Adelaide. Ice rinks tend to come and go every winter so here's a 2021 update on the three places you can go ice-skating in Adelaide this July. There are two pop-up ice rinks with more than just skating on offer and there's the good old Adelaide Ice Arena which is home to the original and largest ice surface in Adelaide.
When: 25th June – 18th July. !0am – 11pm seven days. Where: Glenelg Foreshore by Moseley Square Cost: Free entry ($10 after 7pm Friday to Saturday). Skating from $15 a child and $22 per adult. Family packages available $60. The alpine winter festival has been around Adelaide for a few years now and is making Moseley Square at the Glenelg foreshore its home in 2021. This festival is not just about ice skating but offers much more. There'll be an après ski bar, markets, music, food from street food vendors and a pop-up restaurant along with a nightly light show over Glenelg Jetty. Book tickets here.
The Winter Village When: 15th May – September 5th. Seven days Where: Torrens Parade Ground, Victoria Drive, Adelaide
Cost: Free entry. From $25.50 for adults and $19.10 for children. Skating, snow showers and igloos are a point of difference at this new skating festival in the CBD. The original and the biggest ice rink in Adelaide, the ice-sport oriented IceArena offers public ice skating sessions from 10am – 3.30pm Monday to Friday and 12.30pm – 3.30pm on weekends. The IceArena also hold snow play sessions for kids and their parents from 10am to 2pm on Sundays in school holidays. The IceArena has a café on site for eats and drinks.
