It's free and it's for every family
The museum may be closed but that doesn't mean there still isn't plenty of awesome (and free) activities for families these July school holidays in the Perth Cultural Centre.

Easily accessible by train, bus and car, the Cultural Centre is a hive of activity during school holidays, with a huge variety of free and affordable activities for kids of all ages.

Catch Music
When: weekdays, 10am-12 noon
Cost: Free
Suitable for all ages and all talents, no booking required just come on down, grab an instrument and have a jam session with your little ones.

Mini Olympians in the City
When: Tuesday 5th and Thursday 14th, 10am-2pm
Where: Urban orchard
Cost: Free
Run by the experienced team from Kidz 'n Sport become a mini Olympian for the day and try your hand at basketball, netball, throwing and catching skills as well as running and jumping. Suitable for children 3-12 years.

Big screen gaming
When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11am-2pm
Cost: Free
Challenge your friends in our Olympic-themed big screen video games.



NAIDOC Celebrations
When: Wednesday 6th, 11am-3pm
Where: James Street Amphitheatre
Cost: Free
Take the family for an afternoon of free entertainment, with live broadcasts by Noongar Radio, learn about bush foods and try some bush tucker sampling, and enjoy a performances by Jake and the Cowboys.

Big Screen Movies
When: Friday 8th, 11.30am Mighty Ducks
Where: outside movie screen, PCC
Cost: Free
When: Friday 15th, 11.30am Cool Runnings
Where: outside movie screen, PCC
Cost: Free
Bring a blanket or cushion and a picnic lunch and settle in for these sport-themed family-friendly Disney movies.

Mini Rev: The Muppets
When: Monday 11th to Friday 15th, 10am or 2pm
Where: State Library
Cost: Free
For lovers of all-things Muppet, settle in for two fantastic compilation movies of some of Jim Henson's best loved characters. 10am sessions are 'Jim Henson's Tales from Muppetland' and 2pm sessions are 'Muppets Musical Moments'

WORKSHOPS

Noongar Basket Weaving
When: Monday 11th, Wed 13th to Friday 15th, 11am-4pm [closed Tuesdays]
Where: Imagination Room, Art Gallery of WA
Cost: Free
Join Whadjuk Noongar artist, Sharyn Egan, and learn the ancient art of basket weaving. Be a part of a community project and help make a large raffia basket. Suitable for ages 6 and up.

Toys for Tomorrow Sculpture Making Workshop
When: Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th, 10.30am-1pm and 1.30pm-4pm
Cost: $25 per child
Children are welcome to join Australian artist, Olga Cironis to make their own toy: a precious creature that represents "you". Learn techniques such as stitching, tying, weaving, wrapping and upcycling. Bookings essential.

Body Parts Sculpture Making Workshop
When: Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th, 10.30am-1pm and 1.30pm-4pm
Cost: $25 per child
Children are welcome to join Australian artist, visual artist Lex Randolph for an anatomical textiles workshop. You will stitch, stuff, snip and stick your very own creature, inspired by Laetitia Olivier-Gargano's freaky, fleshy sculptures in Hatched 2016 and then take it home in a specimen jar. Bookings essential.
