Who Is Your Favourite Willy Wonka Character?
I remember vividly as a child I went to see Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at the movies and was in awe in my own fantasy world that it would be wonderful to be able to be there and win the golden ticket. Even as young as I was, I still remember the message that I believed was given in the movie, in that you do not have to be from the most privileged family or a special person to achieve your goals in the world and that miracles do happen from good behaviour and morals. Whether that was the message the movie was trying to give out, it does not matter, as it was what I took home from the movie.

On Thursday 24th, January 2019 from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at Village Roadshow Theatrette, which one of the venue spaces at the State Library of Victoria, your child is invited to dress up as one of his/her favourite characters from the movie and win the golden ticket at this special school holiday event. The event is recommended for children aged eights to twelve years of age. Children under twelve must be accompanied by an adult in the Library.
It is hard to believe this movie first hit the screens in 1971 and yet is still a favourite of school children today. Entrance to the Theatrette is via Entry 3 in La Trobe Street. This event is free.
There are always heaps of great activities and events happening at libraries. Keep an eye on the State Library of Victoria's webpage for more upcoming events.
