Want to build your first computer game?Your child will have fun building computer games, programing robots, and designing animations in Coding Kids creative and productive Holiday Code Camps this September.Held at The Edge in South Brisbane for students in Years 2-7, these school holiday camps see children engage with computational thinking, algorithmic thinking, problem-solving, mathematics, computer programming concepts and graphic design, whilst creating a tangible product using Scratch or Python.
Choose from two options these school holidays:Learn to program with Scratch (Years 2-6)Learn to program with Python (Years 5-7)All workshops are designed for beginners up to advanced coders aged 7 to 13 years.Auslan & Signed English fluent Coding Mentors are also available upon requestDetails of various code camps:1. Beginners Python #1 (Year 5-7) $299Dates: Tuesday 20 - Friday 23 SeptemberTime: 12.30-3.30pmPython is a great programming language to help beginners to understand programming concepts. It is widely regarded as the best programming language for beginners because it is easy to learn, easy to read and write, extremely flexible, and helps you progress onto harder languages.2. Intermediate Python #3 (Year 5-7) $299Dates: Monday 26 - Friday 30 SeptemberTime: 12.30-3.30pmThe Beginners Python 2 Holiday Code Camp continues on from Beginners Python #1 and students will build on new concepts, commands and computer games.3. Scratch for beginners (Year 2-6) $147Dates: Tuesday 20 - Thursday 22 SeptemberTime: 12.30-2.30pmScratch is a great introduction to computer programming concepts. It is a drag and drop coding environment which suits children from the age of 6. Students explore the Scratch interface and familiarise themselves with capabilities of this program. They build their own computer games, animations and multimedia art, whilst in the process they discover computer science principles. 4. Scratch for beginners (Year 2-6) $147Dates: Tuesday 27 - Thursday 29 SeptemberTime: 12.30-2.30pmScratch is a great introduction to computer programming concepts. It is a drag and drop coding environment which suits children from the age of 6. Students explore the Scratch interface and familiarise themselves with capabilities of this program. They build their own computer games, animations and multimedia art, whilst in the process they discover computer science principles. All Coding Mentors have blue cards and each program is aligned with the Australian Curriculum.
Computational thinking supports computer programming and is fundamental to problem-solving across a range of disciplines including sciences, humanities and social sciences.Each workshop is held in an encouraging and supportive environment and Coding Kids Mentors note mistakes are a necessary stepping stone and part of the trial and error learning process.
