Looking for fun ways to keep your kids busy during the school holidays?
Head to The Red Place in Cleveland for a range of art and play activities at selected times between Monday, January 13, 2014 and Friday, January 17, 2014.
Join your child to write an old-fashioned 'thank you' letter on Monday, January 13 any time between 10am and 1pm. It costs $3 per letter, which includes a stamp, envelope and craft work. You and your children can write a creative and beautiful letter that will warm the hearts of your friends and loved ones. A good way to start the new year thinking about the simple things in life and appreciating the people who are important to us.
Kids can learn to write their own book during a three hour workshop on Tuesday, January 14. There are two sessions: One from 9am until 12pm and the other from 12.30pm until 3.30pm. The interactive workshop covers tools and techniques for writing, led by the founder of Queensland's Child Writes, Emma Mactaggart, and illustration tips by artist Elise Parups. The cost is $20 per session and the workshop is for children aged nine and up. Bookings are essential.
The workshop on Wednesday, January 15 is about recycling. Children aged nine and up will do craft activities and be part of a giant recycle installation. Sessions are from 9am to 12noon and 12.30pm until 3.30pm. The cost is $15 per session and includes all resources. Bookings are essential.
Families are invited to the screening of the movie Bag It!, which is an investigation into plastic's effects on our oceans, environment and bodies. The movie is G rated and all proceeds go towards plastic free education projects. The cost is $5 per person and the movie will be screened from 6pm until 8pm. Take a picnic to enjoy during the show. Bookings are required.
Join your child to be inspired by natural play scapes and simple recycled ideas on Thursday, January 16. The session includes resources, a presentation of natural play ideas from Spade Landscapes and the opportunity to enjoy the play cave. The cost is $5 and you can drop in with your child any time during the sessions which are from 9am to 12pm and 12.30pm until 3.30pm. This activity is suitable for all ages.
Join your child to play with science on Friday, January 17 from 9am until 12pm. The session includes primary science experiments involving magnets, circuits, gravity, flight, motion and more. The cost is $15 per child, which includes all resources for four science experiments. The activity is for children ages seven and up and bookings are essential.
