From archery to Zumba, Brisbane has kids covered
Keeping older kids entertained during the school holidays can be tricky. Thankfully, there are a number of free and low-cost activities to keep them busy this winter; from archery and boxing to yoga and Zumba.
Chill out with Brisbane City Council on the school holidays. From June 22, the council's Chill Out program offers older kids, between 10 and 17 years old, a range of activities including canoeing, kayak fishing, clay animation, circus skills, dodge ball, pottery and plenty more.
Visible Ink in Fortitude Valley provides a variety of activities for older kids starting from June 24. Cool classes include contemporary dance, self-defence and photography to name a few.
The State Library of Queensland hosts Story Lab, a series of hands-on workshops aimed at 9 to 17 year olds. From June 24 to July 5, join industry professionals in wonderful workshops including writing, filmmaking, sound effects, stop motion and song writing. All materials are supplied. Cost is $68 for these full day workshops.
Brisbane Powerhouse's Powerkids presents a series of fun activities and events especially for kids eight years old and over. Workshops include iFilmaker, Little Journo, Powervocals and more.
