Are you looking for school holiday activities in the Eastern suburbs? Well, you've come to the right place. Here are 5 things to do which won't cost a fortune:

Vegecation Gould League Holiday Program @ Centro Box Hill

Rhubarb
Learn how to grow your own vegetables successfully at Vegecation.

Gould League will be running a free educational holiday program from the 9th until the 13th of July at Centro Box Hill. Children will learn about how to grow their own vegetables successfully. They will also have the opportunity to get to know some of the special insects, which help maintain a productive garden. Sessions are scheduled between 11.00am and 2.00pm with interactive playtimes at 11.30am and 1pm. Every child gets to take home a free apron.

Montrose Playground and Hahndorf's Chocolate Shop
Venture to Montrose and discover the community playground.

Rug up and venture to the huge, interactive Montrose Community Playground then warm up with a hot chocolate from Hahndorf's Chocolate Shop.

Blackburn Lake School Holiday Program

There are two free school holiday workshops at the stunning Blackburn Lake Sanctuary. Bookings can be made by ringing 9262 6211. Places fill fast.

Tuesday 3rd of July, 10am 12pm Batman and Robin Workshop
Discover how bats navigate their way in the dark. Learn about the beautiful robins, which visit the sanctuary over the winter. Enjoy making a bat or robin mask to take home.

Tuesday 10th of July, 10am 12pm - Nesting Homes and Hollows Workshop
Can animals turn on the heater to keep warm in winter? The answer, of course, is "No" but here is an opportunity to find out how they do keep their homes and hollows warm.


Diamond Valley Steam Engine @ Eltham Lower Park
Take a ride on the Diamond Valley Miniature Railway

On Sundays and Wednesdays during the school holidays the Diamond Valley Miniature Railway operates between 11am and 5pm at Eltham Lower Park. Rides cost only $3 with children 2 and under riding for free.


African Dancing Workshop in Eltham

Vibrant and captivating dancer Seydou Sow facilitates this energetic and exciting West African workshop being held between 10am and 12pm on Tuesday 10th of July at the Yellow Dance Spot on Handfield Street, Eltham.
