Delicious schnitzels that are a cut above the rest
Mr Teen enjoys his schnitzels. With sauce or without, he likes his schnitzels crumbed and crunchy. I prefer a tasty meal that doesn't cost a 'bomb'. We chose to visit Schnitz, a restaurant that specialises in schnitzels and has over 60 restaurants throughout Australia.
When Mr Teen and I arrived at Schnitz, we spent time perusing the menu as it was difficult to decide between the options. Their schnitzels can be wrapped in a tortilla and toasted or in a Turkish roll, also toasted. Schnitz has chicken, beef or fish schnitzels, otherwise there is the vegetarian schnitzel option. An additional alternative are their crumb-free chicken schnitzels with either lemon pepper or Moroccan spices. Schnitz promotes made to order schnitzels which are pan-cooked covered in a crunchy crumb coating (I dare you to say that with a morsel of meat in your mouth). There are thick beer-battered chips as well as a selection of salads and dips, therefore resolving our dinner options for the night was difficult. Would we choose Parmageddon Schnitzel, Thai The Knot Schnitzel or Fiery Turban among many selections? Or would we choose to upgrade our crumbs to a chilli crumb coated schnitzel and taste the fire?
I chose the Swiss Schnitz on a toasted Turkish roll with Swiss cheese, avocado, semi-dried tomatoes, spinach and sweet chilli mayo. This meal was absolutely delicious, the mayo raising this schnitzel above the average.
We also ordered their thick chips which are sprinkled with a secret seasoning. I ordered large chips which were yummy but the downside was that the large serving was small in size. The meal for two of us, including a 600ml Pepsi, was $34.30 which is good value for a sit down meal.
Schnitz reminded us of an upmarket fast food outlet that sells burgers and chips. The difference, though, was that Schnitz specialises in delicious schnitzels and crunchy seasoned chips which were moreish. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and would return to Schnitz.
