Seriously good nosh
City dwellers, you're in luck. You know how all the cool and quirky little cafes always open up in the trendy suburbs and you find yourself making a mental list of all the great new places you just have to try when you have some time off, only to find that the weekend rolls around and…where was that place you wanted to try?

Well guess what, Schmucks Bagels has just brought the quirky and cool to the CBD. Just opening this week, they're tucked away sort of behind the Rydges hotel building at The William, Guests Lane, Rear of 199 Williams Street. Yeah, it's one of those very Melbourne things where it's a tiny bit of a hunt, but not to worry, it's certainly not hard to find.

As the name suggests Schmuck, as in Yiddish for fool, as in you'd be foolish to not get yourself there for these tasty round treats before word gets out and you're queuing for these babies Melbourne hotspot style. And while they'd be worth the queue, here's a sneak peak of the menu.

Heading into work and need a quick breakfast, curing the Monday morning 'blurghs' or want a fresh and fast lunch option? This is your place.

The bagel sandwiches a a clever twist on your typical bagel fare and if you like to keep things simple, you can bag yourself some filling bagels with one of a variety of delicious spreads.

Oh and did we forget to mention....Vegemite bagels? Yeah, they have those too.

The coffee is great (Allpress lovers, they serve it up here) and while this little gem might not be enormous in space, it certainly pumps out some mighty bites. The good news is that there is a bit of seating both indoors as well as out so if you need to schedule in a working lunch meeting, you've now got the perfect place.

Trust me, you'll be hard pressed to pick a favourite, so you may need to schedule in a few trips and definitely put this one on your regular breakfast/brunch rotation.

While the majority of bagels are traditionally boiled, Schmucks steam theirs, meaning you get that soft fresh yumminess without the heavy and dense texture.

If you're a carnivore, you won't be missing out as the Schmoozer is certainly a winner with its hickory smoked beef brisket with Kansas city BBQ sauce, Chimichurri, lettuce and tomato on a seeded grain bagel.

For early birds, you can grab your breaky early as they open at 6:30 a.m. and stay open until 4pm, because they know you'll be popping back in for lunch too!
