Meet the gentle giants of the horse world at the 2025 Scenic Rim Clydesdale Spectacular from 14 to 15 June 2027 in Beaudesert in Queensland's scenic rim.
Clydesdales are a Scottish breed of draft horse known for their strength, size, and gentle temperament. They were used in farming and road haulage, like wagon trains. To give you an idea of how big they are, males stand 17 to 19 hands (5.7 to 6.3 feet) tall from the ground to their shoulders and weigh between 1,700 and 2,200 pounds on average.
For an up-close equine experience, head along to the Beaudesert Showgrounds for a two-day spectacular with plenty of things to see, such as:
Clydesdale showing and judging competition;
Harness making
Blacksmithing
Wheelwrights
Horse-drawn demonstrations
Driving displays
Queensland Whip Cracking Championships
World Billy Boiling Championships
Working dog displays
Friesian Horse Troupe performances
The World Plaiting Titles will also be held during the festival. You can check out the full program
here.
In keeping with their Scottish ancestry, there will be music from pipes and drums, the calling of the Clans, the Clydesdale and Clan class and traditional Scottish caber tossing. And in a special foodie treat, there will be haggis burgers and a whisky bar, and Scots are encouraged to attend in their clan kilts.
Single-day and weekend passes are available for the Clydesdale Spectacular. The event is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on each day. Entry prices range from free to $45.00. You can get your tickets
here.
In a pre-lim to the main weekend event, country singer
Luke Geiger will star in a special nighttime concert on Friday, 13 June 2025. Tickets range from $36.75 to $46.95.
The Beaudesert Showgrounds are situated at 43 Albert Street, Beaudesert.
