I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.

A Taste of the True Hunter
Scarborough Wine is a family owned and operated winery that has been producing since the late 80s. The Gillards Road cellar door is located next to the family home and offers a unique tasting experience.
The tasting experience is structured and gives one a chance to fully appreciate the wine. On entering, you are welcomed by a friendly face and asked to take a seat. A plate of cheese, crackers and dried fruit is placed on the table as well as a flight of wines on a descriptive place mat. You are guided through the tasting by attentive, professional staff.
It was very enjoyable tasting wine whilst admiring the views of the valley. People new to wine tasting would find this very enjoyable as you get to taste a range of varieties and are given excellent explanations. The friendly host makes sure you are relaxed and comfortable and also offers interesting anecdotes about the family.
We tasted 11 wines including Semillon, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Pinot Noir of different vintages. There is no pressure to purchase, but we did, as we really enjoyed some of the wines we had not previously tried such as the Vermentino
The grounds are beautiful and there are 360-degree views of the surrounding countryside. Booking is preferred if you have a large group of more than 8 as the tasting room is quite intimate and they may not be able to accommodate you.
The passion and love the Scarborough family and staff have for their product is obvious and infectious and make you feel like part of the family. Put yourself in the picture at Gillards Road or visit their second cellar door at 972 Hermitage Road Pokolbin (Thursday to Monday 10am to 5pm).
