The first part of the new Scarborough redevelopment has finally opened: The Beach Pool. In the middle of a building site, you can find this new modern building with an indoor pool attached to it.
I tried it today with my 2 kids and they had a good time. We parked quite easily along the road near the beach. I was happy to see that pricing was affordable at $4.20 per child over 2 years old and $6.90 per adult. They also offer some memberships, lane location, group fitness and swimming lessons (more details can be found on their website here).
There are 2 pools. One is shallow and toddlers are safe to play in warm water. Half of the pool was in the shade because of the building and the time of the day but if you try to go in the morning, don't forget your sunscreen. There are no slides or games for kids except for few water fountains on one side.
The second pool is bigger with lanes where you can swim or walk. On one side you can find a grass area with some trees where you can relax and on the other side there is a cafe called Cocolat where you can be protected from the sun.
My friend and I tried their coffee, cake and croissant and the quality was pretty good. They were a little disorganised, but it seems quite normal at the start of a new business. The staff were really nice and helpful. The cake selection looks amazing and they have a nice menu for breakfast and lunch.
Overall, my kids and I had fun, but we were slightly disappointed by the lack of games. We hope they will add some inflatable structures in the future.
When we left, we noticed that an Italian restaurant is going to open soon in the pool building and I will happily try it when it does. I can't wait to see the new Scarborough beach front when it is totally completed.
