Immerse yourself in all things Scandinavian when the Danish Church in Pennant Hills once again hosts a market featuring more than just stalls. It's a mini festival with the Finnish, the Estonian, the Swedish, the Norwegian and the Danish all represented in this day of traditions that's fun for the whole family.

One of my favourite things when visiting last year was learning about the Nordic culture of the Vikings. Here you will meet a real Viking, enjoy some craft with painting Viking drawings and see Vikings fighting in a friendly matter as they demonstrate their moves and explain their weapons to the crowd again this year.

The culture continues with music and folk dancing from Estonian dancers in colourful costumes, singing from the Estonian Choir and duo Andrea & Filip. Performance times can be found here.

Danish LEGO and a fun quiz will keep the young ones entertained, whilst a silent auction will see visitors bidding on some great prizes. There's also a raffle with prizes to be won on the spot.

Quality and design shine through in the market stalls that include:-

The Goldsmith's Atelier bringing handcrafted jewellery that uses time-honoured techniques to turn precious metals and stones into works of fine art
Helene from Nordic Rooms selling Christmas decorations, cards, craft supplies, homewares, candle holders, mugs and more
Mindful Making with home-made knitted and sewn goods

Leah Jewellery with personalised bracelets and necklaces, along with gifts and accessories, all hand-made from glass beads and Swarovski crystals
Kaja Clothing to suit women of different shapes and sizes
Mona Lisa Pottery with a Scandinavian touch
50Degrees North a travel agency specialising in holiday tours around the Scandinavian region

Food stalls will have plenty for you to try, with the likes of:-

Swedish Smorgastarta (sandwich cake)
Finnish Hernekeitto (pea soup)
Danish hotdogs
Blond Catering serving up Danish Frikadeller med Kartoffelsalat (meatballs with potato salad), Gravlax (a raw salmon appetiser cured in salt, sugar & dill) and Leverpostej (liver pate)
Scandinavian lollies

Bonjour Patisserie selling delicious cakes, Danish & puff pastries, apple strudels, quiche and coffee
Norwegian waffles

Some stalls will accept EFTPOS and credit card but it is a good idea to bring cash along to the market as well.

It's all on from 10am-3pm, with free entry and parking in the surrounding streets and at Pennant Hills Primary School, opposite the church on Weemala Rd.

So come along and enjoy this market with a difference.
