Scandinavian Film Festival

The third Volvo Scandinavian Film Festival is coming to Brisbane from Wednesday the 13th July to Wednesday 27th July 2016. The event will be held exclusively at the Palace Barracks on Petrie Terrace. The festival features 22 films from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland.

The opening night features the premiere of Welcome to Norway. The pre-film reception will include Smorrebrod and Cake wines. This black comedy tells the story of an aspiring hotel owner who decides to turn his half-built alpine hotel near the border into a state-funded refugee asylum reception centre.

Two films of significance are the multi award winning thriller Land of Mine and the 2016 Golden Globe Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film The Fencer, which is a fictionalised biopic based on the legendary Finnish fencer Endel Nelis.
