Release your inner 'Viking' and prepare to eat, drink, buy and try anything and everything Scandinavian between 10.00am to 4.00pm in sunny Newstead.
This year's fabulous FREE street festival will bring together the best of the Nordic countries of Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Estonia.
The fun kicks off at 10am with the whole of Austin Street invaded by over 50 Scandinavian market stalls. Come bright and early and discover a fantastic range of produce, fashion, furniture, gifts, arts & crafts and lots more.
There will also an opportunity to meet a real Viking and enter the famous raffle with over 50 prizes up for grabs.
"The festival has grown from its humble beginning in 2012 and this year we are excited to announce that our famous raffle is even bigger and better than previous years", President of the Danish Club of Brisbane, Soren Hoimark said.
"The lucky winner of the first prize will WIN a trip of a lifetime!", Soren explained.
The festivals new Platinum sponsors, Emirates and 50 Degrees North, have donated an extraordinary prize valued at $11,000 – a return trip for two to Norway including a 6-day cruise with Hurtigruten.
"With only 10,000 raffle tickets on sale and a prize pool of over $20,000, this is inarguably the best raffle in town with huge winning potential for anyone taking part!" Soren said.
Raffle tickets will be sold on the day and prior through the website with the main prize draw taking place at 2.30pm. The Norwegian Ambassador will be there to announce the winner and you might want to note that the winner MUST be present to claim the prize.
Kids are well catered for as well, with a range of activities including a LEGO Play centre, an electronic Bike track from REID cycles, Swedish floorball and an interactive yarn lounge from The Createry.
Also not to be missed is the LIVE music and traditional dancers who will keep the atmosphere heightened from the mainstage all afternoon.
If you are feeling peckish, head to the food and drink stalls offering traditional Scandinavian food including Norwegian waffles & brown cheese, Danish pastries, cakes and breads, Swedish smorgos and goodies, Finnish karelian pies and bullar.
The festival is proudly supported by QLD Government, Brisbane City Council, Emirates, 50 Degrees North, Stressless and Newstead Series.
