The hottest day of the year
Saturday 7th July is going to be one hot day at the popular seaside town of Sawtell, NSW. The date has finally been set for the 20th annual Sawtell Chilli Festival, so it's time to put it in your calendars.
Thousands of visitors come to Sawtell's annual festival to enjoy the many stalls with chilli-related products. Challenge yourself to sample the world's hottest chilli sauce (and get a sticker to prove your accomplishment), enjoy great live music all day, wander through the market and food stalls and of course, buy yourself a little chilli plant as a souvenir.
Local shopkeepers always join in the festivities, creating giant chilli-themed decor and adding inventive chilli surprises to their regular menus. There's a fancy dress competition and even a chilli-themed hat parade. It's a day where locals are ready to have fun and simply enjoy the quirkiness of the event, as well as share our beautiful town and local produce with visitors.
Recommendations: Where to park: The main street will be closed off, so park in surrounding streets. For more information and updates check out: Stall holders and map and the Event Facebook Page If your mouth is burning after all the taste testing, dairy products or cucumbers help to relieve the burning sensation. Try a (dairy) smoothie from one of the local cafes instead of gulping down a bottle of water.
