Second hand goodness
Savers Recycle Super Store is a large thrift shop that sells second hand clothing, furniture, toys, games, DVD's, books, shoes, bags, and more. Some of the proceeds go towards the Diabetes Foundation, which is a good cause.
Savers offers a wide range of items for a low price, it is best to check your local Savers before heading to the big name shopping centres, to save yourself some money
You can easily vamp up the kids wardrobes and your own for a fraction of the cost it would cost to buy brand new. Every few months I scour the children's section and pick up a bunch of lovely items for my cousin who is constantly getting taller.
Just the other week I got 3 jumpers for her with change from $10! Now that is pretty impressive.
If it's quirky or retro-style books and toys you're looking for, you are sure to find something great by fossicking through the toy section. In there you will find many plush toys, baby toys, board games, and more. I am always amazed at what's available and the prices.
You couldn't find cheaper DVD's if you tried - $2 DVD's at majority of Savers stores are a great way to build up your selection. Kids DVD's, horror films, cartoons and TV series fill the shelving at all stores. I picked up a copy of the movie Matilda for my cousins for just $2 when the new Carrum Downs store opened a month ago.
Did you know that if you bring a bag of donations into Savers, they will stamp your loyalty card and you will recieve a certain percentage off your bill at the end of your shop? This is a great way to get rid of your unwanted household goods and be rewarded. It starts at 5% off, then the next time you donate something it will be 10% off, up to 20% off. I always bring my card with me and love seeing the savings at the end.
Keep an eye out on the Savers Facebook page and website. They announce their epic 50% off clothing sales on there, which are generally held every few months. This is a fantastic way to update your wardrobe or buy clothes for the following season. If you've got young kids who are constantly outgrowing their clothes, then this is a great opportunity to stock up on clothing for them at a crazy 50% off. These sales are usually held on a Monday or Thursday and run from 8am till 9pm so it gives you a lot of time to be able to get there.
Closer to Halloween time Savers brings out a truly outstanding range of brand new costume and accessories. There are funny costumes and freaky costumes for adults, kids, and sometimes pets. There are so many unique costumes that you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere. If you go in after Halloween, you will be happily surprised to see the discounted costumes that you can purchase for the following year.
Overall I love shopping at Savers because it is affordable, there is a great range, and it is good value for money. They are located in various suburbs around Melbourne and interstate. Some suburbs in Melbourne include Brunswick, Footscray, Narre Warren, Carrum Downs, Ringwood, among others.
I would recommend shopping at Savers for people who love bargains, want to find affordable clothing for themselves and kids, don't mind second hand items and love to donate.
