We have been living in Parramatta for last 2 years and love Thai food, but somehow had never been to Saute Thai Restaurant - but after last night, I am not sure if I will visit again.
So how did it go, you will ask? Well, here is the story.
After much explanation and repetition my friend was able to make a booking for 6 adults and 4 kids over the phone. We reached there and got a cosy spot with some pretty Christmas lights. Now here is where trouble started, we settled and waited for good 15 minutes before asking for menu and water. We received the drinks and food menu, but there was no sign of the water. The restaurant is so hot, even with air-con on, and the kids couldn't wait any longer, so we had to ask three more times before getting one bottle of water.
Then we ordered our entrées and mains at the same time to avoid wait, judging by the last half an hour we have been there. We received the entrées fairly quickly but the waitress didn't bother to provide any cutlery. I had to ask again, and wait again, while our food got cold. Imagine how horrible the service was - when the cutlery came, it was stacked in front of us and we had to help ourselves.
Now it was the turn of our mains and you can bet that it didn't go smoothly. One of us ordered a chicken dish which came with beef, another one ordered vegetable and tofu, but only veggies were there and a big confusion happened with kids' juices.
We ordered fish cakes and steamed dumplings for entrées and lamb red curry, chilli and basil stir fry, ginger and shallot stir fry, oyster sauce stir fry, pad thai noodles and Massaman chicken for mains. Average cost of entrée is $6.90 and $16.90 for mains. I have to say that the food was yummy and well prepared, but with such horrible service and mistakes, we couldn't relax and enjoy our dinner.
Surprisingly they had a full house, but they seriously need to up their game. I will have their food again but only take away or delivery.
