Exploring the heritage, floods and nature through art
Sauerbier House was built on 1897, located on the Onkaparinga River estuary; this historic spot now serves as an arts centre, a support to the local creative expression and a point of contact for the community to gather, contribute and connect.
Sauerbier House hosts a variety of art exhibitions, this Saturday 10th of December will launch the works of two artists in residence: Nic Brown and Eileen Lubiana.
"Then came the cloudburst" by Nic Brown; explores floods in the area with a chalky and pastel palette whilst "Fragile" by Eileen Lubiana has focused on the cultural heritage of the natural environment; using squid ink, cuttlefish bones and feathers.
For those who would like to leave their mark at Sauerbier House; Eileen Lubiana invites them to bring a small drawing of a natural object found at the beach; drawings will be displayed at the Hallway Gallery, children's drawings are welcome too! what a great way of being outdoors and giving kids a small taste of the art world.
Artist in Residence Exhibition Launch from 1:30 to 4pm, artist talk at 1:30pm with Nic Brown, guest speaker Tracey Whiting, Chair, Art Gallery of South Australia, sounds by Tristan Louth-Robins and wines to enjoy by Alpha Box & Dice.
