Satchmo Cafe opened in October 2015 ambitiously carrying the name of arguably one of the greatest and most inventive foundational jazz musicians to have ever lived, Louis "Satchmo" Armstrong. Satchmo himself oozed charisma and dexterity with both his gravelly voice and trumpet improvisation affording him a career spanning over five decades. Talk about namesake setting a high standard!

perfectly encapsulates all facets of being food for the soul with equal parts New York soul food, Twin Peaks Coffee, house made baked goods, locally brewed craft beers and live jazz music. Plus if you need your goodness takeaway-friendly, you can nab some of the locally sourced non-filtered honey pots, or scoop up a few records for your home collection.



The cold brew blend totes flavours of bright cranberry and dark chocolate.

In terms of the menu, think classically chewy New York bagels including the Mississippi Fried Chicken Bagel served with slices of fresh watermelon, Challah French Toast served with caramelized fruit, roasted almonds, berry mascarpone and maple and Mammas Matzo Ball Chicken Soup (AKA "Jewish Penicillin").

takes pride in hosting all kinds of funky entertainment with the most recent one being the Seinfield Quiz Night complete with house-made pretzels, cinnamon babka and scattered novelty character cut outs.



Chocolate Babka, which apparently means "little grandmother" in Ukrainian, Russian and Eastern European Yiddish, is an irresistible contrast between layers upon layers of bread with sticky chocolate swirls that is synergistically light and dense at the same time. Babka originated as a savoury Shabbat dish made by twisting leftover scraps of challah (a special type of bread) with seeds and nuts. Other modern variations can be made with cinnamon, almond pastes and chocolate.
