The Saracens Hotel

Walking into the Saracens Hotel, I'll be the first to admit that there is a definite "pub" vibe to it. On the other hand, it is quite a nice pub, so I can't complain. Upon entering, you are greeted with a bar on the left and the dining area on your right. The pokie area is hidden behind doors so you can't hear those irritating sounds while you are eating. Out the back is the beer garden, which also houses the pizza oven.
Meal and drink prices are very reasonable. The menu is quite simple, but offers enough variety to keep even the fussiest eater happy. The Saracens offers all of those favourite pub-style meals; chicken schnitzels, burgers, steak and chips, but also offers vegetarian and gluten-free options. There is also variety between the meal sizes, so if you're not particularly hungry, you can opt for a light meal or if you're starving, go for the larger one.
Our meals did take a while to come out, but one member of our party had ordered steak, so that was to be expected. I have one negative point to raise and it was that one of the waitresses working that night did not have her hair tied back and it was quite long. Having worked in hospitality, this drove me absolutely nuts. Thankfully though, we didn't find any blonde strands in our food.
Overall, if you are going to see a show at the Arts Theatre, I would recommend the Saracens for something to eat beforehand. If not though, I would opt for somewhere else. There are nicer pubs in Adelaide.
