Whether you love or hate Christmas, the countdown is well and truly underway. I personally love Christmas and all that it brings and love a big build up to the best season of the year.
I am therefore delighted to find out that the fabulous immersive theatre experience, Santa's Enchanted Wardrobe, is back in Perth on selected dates in December.
For those who are not familiar with immersive theatre, it's where the audience are not merely passive bystanders, they become part of the story. It is a wonderful encounter and pure genius as you can choose to have a big or small role. You can get fully involved or sit back and watch everyone else - there is no pressure to join in. Kids love this sort of thing and the more you join in with the actors, the more you will get out of the performance.
This year, the show is at Claremont Showgrounds in a venue double the size of last year's location with new spectacular special effects, costumes and sound effects throughout. The set construction, bigger and better this year with expanded worlds, is well underway and promises to blow you away. Prepare for gaping mouths, wide eyes and lots of 'wows!'.
Some of the world-class special effects include illusions, animatronics and holograms, plus, magic drawings come to life that the children have drawn! How cool is that!
The story is inspired by the Chronicles of Narnia and The Lion, theWitch and the Wardrobe. The show starts in the queue whilst waiting to enter the 'theatre' with the children getting stamped and tagged ready be evacuated during World War II. You will be in small groups of no more than 30 people.
As the story progresses, you will learn that you need to collect fairy dust from a tree in the Enchanted Forest where the fairies live and take the dust to the North Pole to give to the reindeer. This will enhance their ability to fly as Santa is very busy currently and they need a bit of extra magic.
Throughout your journey, you will meet the many characters (some elves, a dancing ballerina, the White Witch to name just a few), have tea with Mr Tumnus in his cave, wander through many different worlds (look out for the fairies in the Enchanted Forest) and finally ending up at Santa's Workshop and Grotto. Your group will get to spend time alone with Santa and have photos taken as a souvenir of your visit. There is a fee for photos.
There will be a multi-sensory section in Santa's Grotto to entertain the very young visitors and for the older children, the toys come alive!
There will be snow machines, real pine trees and bark mulch on the floor in the different worlds, which will consume your mind with Christmas images in a multi-sensory experience; feel the snow, smell the pine trees and let your mind go wild!
Whether you are returning after enjoying last year or if this will be your first visit, this is the perfect Christmas outing for your family. With the promise of magic, snow, Santa and tons more, this is an amazing interactive experience unlike any other you will have this Christmas. Everyone will be engaged from beginning to the end.
There is plenty of free parking, the experience is wheelchair friendly and it lasts for approximately 1.5 hours.
