Santa Paws and his Christmas Market at Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge (SCARS)

Ho, ho, ho, we are approaching the home stretch to our favourite time of the year … the festive season! Time to start sorting out family and friends get-togethers; time to sort out what Santa will include in the children's pressies this year and time to organise the annual family Christmas photoshoot with Santa Paws.

We all love Santa photo shoots with our children and grandchildren, and what better way to capture those extra special moments, than having some fabulous mementoes with our four-pawed furry buddies, taken alongside Santa Paws.

And the best news of all? Santa Paws is making a return this year to the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge (SCARS) for the annual Santa Paws photos.

There's a bonus this year too - SCARS are having a Christmas Market! There will be a sizzle crew on hand, serving up delectable bacon and egg burgers, cold drinks, cakes and even a coffee van for mums and dads who need their morning caffeine fix.

There will be Christmas market stalls offering hard-to-resist bargains - Christmas plants, linen, pet packs, wrapped gifts plus cat and doggie knick-knacks, with everything priced at less than $20!

The Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge will also ensure that Santa Paws' visitors have sufficient chairs in shady spots.

Dress up your favourite four-pawed family member - dog or cat - in their Christmas finery and suppawt SCARS for a photo session with Santa Paws. At only $12 for a photo with Santa, plus you get a digital print, you can imagine bookings are absolutely essential.

A bit of background on Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge

SCARS do such an amazing job, providing temporary refuge and finding new homes for abandoned, abused, stray and unwanted cats and dogs. SCARS is an independent, non-profit, charitable organisation with a strictly regulated non-euthanasia policy. All cats and dogs admitted to SCARS are vet checked, vaccinated, wormed, desexed, micro-chipped and medically treated, if necessary, before being available for adoption to the public.

This awesome Animal Refuge is managed by an unpaid, elected committee and run by a small staffing compliment and a large dedicated group of volunteers. The Refuge operates from a 1.08 hectare site in Tanawha, adjacent to the Council Pound in lush green surrounds and can house approximately seventy dogs and fifty cats at any given time. The Refuge also accepts cats and dogs from the Sunshine Coast Council Pound after owners cannot be traced and also from private surrenders.

The group of volunteers at SCARS do a superb job - the grounds, buildings, pet enclosures and gardens are pristinely clean and immaculate - a true pleasure to wander through.

SCARS are always on the lookout for reliable and dedicated volunteers, aged over eighteen, to help with early morning work, feeding the cats and dogs, cleaning pens, preparing food, mowing the lawn, general maintenance and washing. If you are keen to help out and would like more information on becoming a volunteer, please follow the link here. If you can't make the pawsome photo shoot with Santa Paws and would love to make a donation to this phenomenal Animal Refuge, please follow the link here.

Whilst you're doing the 'rounds' at SCARS, if you should perchance meet someone fluffy and doe-eyed, looking for a new forever home, SCARS will happily provide you with the necessary information - you might be lucky enough to have an extra family member for Christmas! I just know that there will be many doggies and kitties that are totally irresistible!

To make bookings for this totally unique photo shoot for the whole family, please call (07) 5494-5275 to book your spot!

Mark Sunday 24 November for Santa Paws on your festive calendar at the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge in Tanawha, secure in the knowledge that all donations for this pawsome event, are going to an extremely worthy cause.
