Writing for pleasure to showcase the best Australia has on offer.
Be part of the tug-of-war at Sanity Fair this October
On Saturday 10th October, Sanity Fair Queensland is holding their annual community event in raising the awareness of wellness and addressing the stigma around metal health issues in the community. This event also supports Mental Health Week which runs between 5th and 12th October.
The event will showcase live music including performances from Leah Cottrell, June Low and The Counterfeit Umbrellas. Speakers, information stalls and exciting workshops on wellbeing and mental health will be running as well as many fun, family-friendly activities including pony rides, an animal farm, face painting and the return of the annual "tug of war".
Groups are invited to facilitate an activity, workshop or information stand at the event with an application form found on the Sanity Fair website. There is no registration fee; however donations to assist with costs of the event are welcome. You will need to bring you own equipment to set up.

Sanity Fair is made up of volunteers and these volunteers are essential in making this organisation what it is today and into the future. If you have ever been touched by mental illness or have known someone who has you will realise the struggle they have endured not only, in some cases to be diagnosed correctly, but also to be accepted in the wider community.
So you may like to become a volunteer of Sanity Fair and make a difference not only to the lives of others but also for your own satisfaction of helping another. You can email Sanity Fair at email@example.com for more information. Volunteer roles include performers, facilitators or coordinators on fair day, marshalls (parking, crown management, runners), logistic volunteers (set up and pack down), event management, promoters, marketing, event planning, the list goes on.

The theme for this year's event is "Stronger Together" in recognition of the possibilities that we can achieve towards collective wellbeing and strong community ties. Sanity Fair will be held at Musgrave Park at 100 Edmonstone Street, South Brisbane on Saturday 10th October commencing at 10am to 3pm. Put this event in your calendar as a day to enjoy.
