Sushi is to train, as hat is to head. Well that is what I always thought, until I dined at the 'trainless' in Albion. My initial reluctance quickly dissipated as I experienced a quality of sushi and service like never before.

Brisbane boasts a vast number of 'conveyor belt' style sushi bars with major players including GINGA, Sushi Train, and Sushi Station. However of late, I have been subjected to long waiting lines and a lack of variety due the ever growing popularity of this healthy fast food alternative. Henceforth I was pleasantly surprised to find the empty upon arrival, and being seated right away.

The candlelit tables provided the perfect atmosphere for a relaxing dinner. The menu was overwhelming with appetisers, sashimi, an assortment of sushi rolls, noodle soups, and Japanese curries just to name a few. This is where the conveyor belt system usually comes in handy, as you can see what you are ordering, however we dived right in and ordered based on our past sushi experiences.

As we waited for our meals, we were offered authentic green tea, for which refills were endless. First came the rice paper rolls filled with roast duck, bean sprout and carrot. My friend is not a big fan of duck, however she couldn't help but rave about this dish for the rest of the night. Next was the gyoza, a popular Japanese dumpling, which was lightly steamed and pan fried to perfection, and filled with a juicy flavoursome filling.

My friend enjoyed the Prawn Tempura sushi, while I tried the Spicy Scallops Sushi. I was mildly concerned at the rawness of the scallops, however my friend quickly assured me that was how it was supposed to be, and any hesitations I had dissipated.

We also shared a basket of Sweet Potato Tempura which was simply put, to die for. The generous serving could easily be shared (or fought over) between a family or small group.

Between the two of us the total bill was just short of $30, which is comparable to what you may pay at any sushi bar around Brisbane. A bargain really, when you factor in the impeccable restaurant quality service and sushi that is on offer.
